November 2004 A R C H I V E S
This is one celebrity appearance I think is mighty, mighty indeed.

Like many others this Holiday season, I am enjoying a very quiet and very nice and well appreciated week, this Thanksgiving.
More frequent commentary in BIRD will resume after this weekend, but meanwhile, not for lack of something to share, it's a wonderful season, so much to be grateful for. I'm still enjoying this few weeks of daily housekeeping and other hotel amenities and the complete works by Jane Austen -- the only book I brought with me although I wish I'd brought more, Virgin Radio (which is playing "The Hotel California" as I write this, something that just seems so wrong) because I also didn't bring any CDs along due to effete, albeit respectable, luggage accommodations, so, no complaints, just none at all, other than I'm being dosed in U.K. culture and will probably have an amended accent by the time I leave.
That's "seventy nine pounds ninety nine," the fellow just said to me. That'd be, the chap, umm, bloke just said to me. Is a bloke also a mate? And, what's the difference between a chap and a bloke? Jane Austen makes no mention of any. So, question is, is it language or is it motive? All I know is that the book I brought along is gold leafed and huge in pages and that I need another cup o' tea. And that some things are best left unsaid, unwritten and alone.

There's a lot to be grateful for this Thanksgiving holiday, and here I am, very grateful.
From the tiny to the huge, I am grateful.
About the news: grateful that Dan Rather is resigning, because, otherwise, what's left for any content cast from a source many of us don't consider credible? Question tonight is, will the network become credible after Rather's departure, or, continue on in figurehead change only? I'm not optimistic about an editorial epiphany by CBS.
About the interim: a sweet and special hotel extended stay, an intent and caring physician with some ready antibiotics and the kindness of humanity this week, combined with a wonderful ethernet connection and a responsive DELL configuration and DELL itself of late (immense improvements in technical and customer care support), all things considered, I am a happy camper tonight.
About the tiny: everyone is responsible for their own behavior, including NBA players. It's refreshing to hear a bit of talk radio in America making that point and decrying the "it's society's responsibility" excuse by some; I realize this is a huge issue for many but it becomes tiny when compared to the other issues in our world today. Professional sports aren't so much about expert acumen but about character, or, rather, should be, and maybe that's the point to be made from seeing how badly professional acumen can perform when character is secondary.
I give thanks tonight, for life and the Sacred Heart.
That last part is the huge part.

Reading PowerLine, there is this:
"IN PRAISE OF JOHN O'NEIL," that references an article by Nat Hentoff from today's Sun Times:
"Kerry Critic Displays Courage Under Fire"
My individual opinion is that John O'Neill is among the most remarkable of persons I've yet to encounter, read about, listen to, view on tape.
And that the Swiftvets are among America's finest heroes. Long may they be cherished and honored.
Wondering if we will ever see the release of John Kerry's full military record. The unscrubbed version.
This is great: Strengthen The Good Network writes today that they as a project, along with a few bloggers who participate in the Network, are mentioned in an article in The New York Times (see STG's website for a link to the article).
And that the STG Network is now a 503(c) non-profit organization, meaning that those who donate to the featured charities through STG's Network can receive tax deductions for doing so.
Which is, again, great. Any blogger can join and participate in promoting charitable causes, by contacting the Strengthen The Good Network. Should be another charity promotion coming our way this Sunday, which will be included in BIRD.

Thanks to the DRUDGE REPORT for the photograph of President Bush, featured above, and for excellent up-to-the-minute election night coverage this November 02, 2004.
Thanks for wonderful coverage, also, goes to Wizbang, littlegreenfootballs and the Command Post, among many other bloggers. I found so much information throughout the day and night from so many bloggers; truly a remarkable set of Americans doing outstanding work (the PAJAMAHADEEN lives!).
And, last but not least, thanks to FOX News from this viewer for great election coverage. Brit Hume, you rule. As does the Brit Hume led election night panel.

"Kerry's non-honorable discharge"
![]()
"Ex-Navy sec to Kerry: Open up your records
Questions rise on service discharge...was less-than-honorable"
And the focus of this important investigative intensity? On broken heroes, and all they want to do is dance: they spinnin'! They spinnin'!
All Kerry might have done is release his military service records -- all of them -- to support the 'war hero' paint job he's self applied, but, instead, he danced, he spun, he didn't tell the truth. On this spin he launched a Presidential campaign. On what a sad and dishonest spin it has been.
Driving comfortably ahead of him at a safe and reasonable speed, Wizbang's "Pre-Election Self Serve Linkfest," just in time for a burger, fries and milkshake uptown from Wendy's, while waiting for the truth to get out of the way on that fast lane up the hill.
Too late. Last chance power drive and the last ditch power broken can't find the exit to Truthville, gears jammed and Honesty run over by their speeding wrecks. There were brakes available, you know.
Where's the honor? Where's the interest in something other than great big speakers? Where's the truth, justice and the American Way? Wherever it is, the mainstream American media missed it, just drove on by. And John Kerry and the Kerry campaign showed them how.
Wizbang shows you why. Well, at least they'll let you talk about it.
Well, I can always hope. And pray. And I do.
Wizbang provides their national voter map, with state-by-state color distinctions per GOP and DNC -- it's a red-state day, from the looks of things at present. Hawaii perhaps going for Bush with their four quite possibly Republican electoral votes is astounding and I hope that they do!
I'd host my own version but my spyware prohibits java installs and I don't want to tweak things this morning.
Just read Wizbang and check back there often or else install your own map, with hopes that you prefer red to blue.
