I must apologize to Sean Penn. He's no longer at the top of my "Imbecile Actors (in regards to politics) from Hollywood" list. Viggo Mortensen has claimed the #1 spot as of this time.

Sean Penn always gets a pass from me because he has exceptional talent, particularly at chosing excellent roles from excellent scripts and not engaging the rest. His New Orleans appearance seemed the act of -- to my view -- an earnest person but one easily sidetracked by an enterouge (which made his appearance there foolish, in retrospect). But, sincerely here, I thought Penn's appearance complete with his defective boat was the act of desperation almost certainly motivated by humane concerns, only that he very well should have taken special care who he took and did not take to accommodate the effort (whatever became of that, anyway?).
About Mortensen, he's certainly talented but he's made similar political nonsense in statements before and it -- I agree with you here -- overburdens the onscreen theatrical appeal he has otherwise. What he's said here (calling for "impeachment...immediately") probably reflects the fact that for certain people in celebrity environs, they (and this includes Mortensen) seem isolated from the reality that they'd otherwise learn from and interact with, if they had broader social exposure. After a certain point, there's the "closed society" influence upon scope that is celebrity -- unless someone makes a conscious effort to balance one's perspectives otherwise, you're in an environment of polarized and often "amended" dimensions. But and however, I do apply the same considerations to either polarity of opinion as to politics -- but among entertainers and the industry, there's the obvious extremely liberal enclave and any conservative or even moderate opinions (what would be liberal to most of rural and small town America) are ridiculed. Another reason I refer to so many in entertainment as the "bubble people" -- because they're not among balance otherwise, life in not so much a refined environment as an overcooked one.
My best guess, anyway. Because, otherwise, I haven't a clue as to why there'd be a demand for Bush's "impeachment" other than someone's been misled as to information about national issues.

Yeah, site was down for maintenance, too, when I earlier checked, and yes, epador, balderdash it is. It just seems that there's such insulated balderdash for some in entertainment. Explains much about why our American film industry is doing so badly.
