SITE NEWS
The commenting feature has been undergoing a moderation queue process during hours when it's not reliable that all comments by everyone immediately publish; apologies to anyone who may have attempted to comment here but was dissuaded by either the moderation queue or outright comment refusal, depending. The on/off settings and how they're scheduled and implemented are not being publicized for obvious reasons due to abuses, but it's hoped that eventually any/all who repeat comment here will be recognized by the site and will not be sent to moderation pending comment approval. Until then, to anyone who would like to comment here, please give it a go despite the queue involved. Next few days, there will be a queue involved.
The site will be undergoing a redesign in January 2006 but there should be no problems for visitors, given that the new design will appear in January or February as fully developed, with only a few minor, transitory revisions anticipated afterward that may affect appearances and function. If anyone familiar with the site has any suggestions for ease and pleasantness of use, please feel free to leave your comment/s in the ready queue process. Queued comments are still read comments, unless they're spammer comments -- in which case, they're queued but tossed.
Entries will be nonexistent today and tomorrow but something fresh will appear by Thursday, December 08, 2005. Until then, go read Wizbang and FloridaCracker (from among personal favorites) and any of the links on the left-hand column "Go To" link array -- excellent variety of sites are to be found there for the heavy-content eager -- and/or watch (again, from among personal favorites) THE INCREDIBLES, GLADIATOR and DIE HARD again.
Merry Christmas to all!

Merry Christmas! Lovely opening pic.
Thanks, Donnah! I still have miles to go before I can blog again -- at least today -- but I'll give it a go tomorrow.
Icon above (at this publishing -- since they change often), anyway, currently displayed is an icon by the immensely talented tempura painter of Christian iconography, ILIAN RACHOV. My current page display does not accommodate credits for the header art images displayed, but I will be changing that with the new site design in early 2006.
Later Edit: I've since changed the header graphic with image since Donnah complimented what was displayed when she wrote her comments here, so for others at some future time who may have missed that display, here is a copy of the painted icon that Donnah (and I, too) find remarkable:
"Virgin Mary with Child Jesus" (spelled, in original title, "...Child Gesus") by Ilian Rachov.
I don't know if I've asked you this or not...but have you seen "Walk the Line?" Wow...Phoenix deserves a nomination...I really enjoyed the film.

YES, I just saw "Walk the Line" and I completely agree as to Joaquin Phoenix's performance. I'm quite partial to his skill anyway -- he was wonderful in "Ladder 49" and convincingly repulsive in "Gladiator" -- but he fits in seamlessly with the rendition of Johnny Cash in "Walk the Line", despite the poetic licensing involved in the film.
I particularly like the tagline for "Walk the Line": "Love is a burning thing." And, the one-sheet is a wonderful design but it's out of key with the film, film premise and subject. To make that effect (in use in the key art) work, they'd oughta' have had the effect be IN/ON Phoenix (Cash, depicted) instead of as background.
