Nancy Pelosi LIKES it, she really, really LIKES it! Finally, an Imaginary Energy Bill that Pelosi can really get excited about, imaginary drilling that avoids those messy details of reality! The Democrats get to say they're drilling while not drilling but imagining they are drilling, saying they are, but are not.

Our Democrat-Pelosi-Led House of Representatives passes a "no energy exploration" bill that declares they're "for drilling" (petroleum exploration and development) while they are not but saying they are. If you can make any sense of this, then you are among the Gang of 10 20, Republicans who fell for the ruse and joined in the Democrats' mind game. Which is invisible. Also a game. It is "HR 6899".

Square-Black.gif No-Energy Nancy's Phony Energy Plan by Marlo Lewis on National Review Online

Today's Greenwire (subscription required) reports that the House is expected to vote as soon as tomorrow on Democratic legislation that would "allow drilling more than 100 miles from the Atlantic and Pacific coasts, and as close to 50 miles from the shore if coastal states agree to it."

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is spearheading this legislation -- an obvious sign that the Green Left's longstanding opposition to drilling has become a political liability for Democrats in this election cycle.

However, although Pelosi appears to be bowing to political and economic reality, her proposed "compromise" is a cynical ploy that no self-respecting supply-sider will touch with a 2,000-foot oil rig.

Our friends at the Institute for Energy Research (IER) posted a devastating exposé of the Pelosi plan. As announced last week, the plan would:

-- Permanently ban access to about 97 percent of the undersea oil lying within 50 miles of the California coast.

-- Continue the ban on energy production in the Eastern Gulf of Mexico.

-- Impose a brand-new ban on oil and gas leases in Alaska's coastal waters out to 50 miles.

-- Not allow states that approve new leases beyond 50 miles to share royalties with the federal government, thus stripping any financial incentive for states to stand up to environmental pressure groups, who will continue to agitate against any new oil and gas operations offshore.

The plan also includes poison pill provisions that President Bush is on record as opposing, such as new taxes on oil companies and a first-ever nationwide renewable-energy production quota for the electric power sector.

Nothing puts Pelosi's charade in clearer focus, though, than IER's charts showing how much oil the plan would lock up off the U.S. West coast. By banning new leases out to 50 miles, the Pelosi plan would permanently deny access to 100 percent of the technically recoverable oil off the coasts of Washington, Oregon, Northern California, and Central California, plus 95 percent of the oil off the coast of Southern California.

Pro-drilling lawmakers on the Hill would be well advised to wave these charts in front of the television cameras as often as possible...

Via littlegreenfootballs, this report from "zombietime" replete with excellent photo and video record of what actually occured in Denver on this one instance -- counter-protestors harassed protestors, Code Pink in concert with the counter-protestors instigated and harassed the police and then feigned harms when the police responded.

Zombie captures the reality on the ground, close-up and close-in, as to what really transpired (and explains at what moments the media present "edited reality" [my term for it] by withholding film record at crucial moments).

Instead, what we, the public saw from and about the DNC convention in Denver last week, was, glossed-over rosey golden hum-right by candlelight and sun. What we saw was staged, in other words, another construct of the "fantasy, imaginary candidacy" of Barack Obama.

Zombie also has some other excellent photos from the whole Denver experience, also all found via littlegreenfootballs. The "Democratic Convention Giant Puppet Parade" is very, very funny, in an uncomfortable, stupid sort of way. We sure didn't see these stupid Democrats on the MSM (or even read about them).

How the media and left-wing blogs combined to create a police scandal out of thin air

The real story behind the Alicia Forrest/Carlo Garcia arrests.

On Tuesday, August 27, during the Democratic National Convention in Denver, I witnessed an incident that seemed at the time to be rather minor, but which over the subsequent days turned into a major scandal -- primarily due to a video posted online by the Rocky Mountain News. This carefully edited video shows Officer Stewart of the Denver Police knocking Alicia Forrest of Code Pink to the ground during a protest, and then, after an edit, Forrest getting arrested by other officers. This video has created a firestorm among left-wing blogs, and also engendered many follow-up stories in the Denver Post, the Rocky Mountain News, Westword, and other mainstream Denver media outlets.

However, I personally witnessed the entire incident, from the beginning to the end, and can say without reservation that the Rocky Mountain News video is intentionally deceptive, and crafted to make the protester (Alicia Forrest) appear to be a victim of needless police brutality. I have photographic and video proof, shown below, that Alicia Forrest "asked for it" in the sense that she disobeyed police commands to stay back and also taunted the police; and that she was not seriously injured by Officer Stewart; and that the Rocky Mountain News in particular committed an act of media malfeasance by purposely posting on their site a deceptive video that left out all the context surrounding the incident. Furthermore, many blogs jumped on the story and trumpeted it as evidence of police misbehavior, when in fact there was no misbehavior at all.

The report (see/read at this link) has 25 photos and four short videos, but bear with me and read all the way through to the end in order to see the full story. The full incident lasted many minutes and is a little complicated, but can easily be followed photo-by-photo in the report (see/read the full story...)

"ARE DEMS TALKING ABOUT McCAIN'S AGE IN CODE?"

Yes, yes they are.

Though I would relegate the talk they're talking to Obamabonics and not to "code," because, this is the latest translation of the same old language and the language is the thing, that's the thing to analyze.

For those who hunt, are keen in perceptions as to what sounds mean what, what's being roasted and crackles, spits and puffs away is today's Obamabonics that's replaced yesterday's Kerry Kuts and Gore's flaming. But it's the same misleading language, just today with a different accent: Obamabonics, "code speak" for "I support but I deny."

The code-speak applies like marrow keeps a bone together (albeit, an ill bone with dubious filling), but, binding and filler, the speak is there for the observant: "say it, betray it" and "uphold it, scold it."

As to John McCain's age, yes, of course the Democrats are ridiculing John McCain's age -- it's all-the-heck everywhere on the internet, for starters, it's sprinkled all over and in whatever Democrats dish-out, it's impossible not to step in it all over the place. Obama says it, the Democrats betray it, Obama upholds it, the Democrats scold it (and far worse), and then Obama gets to laugh among his more predictable crowds (San Francisco, Chicago, Democrat legislators, segregated supporters, Wright's "church", etc.) that it is, after all, an aged competitor, poured out like bad wine by Obama with that indecent, false laugh.

What it is is dishonest speech, reflective of bad character. I don't expect too much more this year from the Left, but, in Obama's case, he's got this code-speak language thing down badly because he leaves crumbs all.over.the.place and the rest of us would have to be blind and deaf not to read and hear it.

Unfortunately for our nation and this world, the limitations of youth -- despite youth's abundancy otherwise -- are that they learn by failure when they survive failure and what hasn't yet been proven to fail, they often follow. It's why they can be so easily led astray and all of us who are now older were once younger and that's why those of us who've survived to older ages keep an eye and ear out because we know that some of those sounds are by predators, or, by bad things that bring youth to an end.
